About the Flower Art
Flowers are such a fantastic topic for artwork. They are symbolic in just about every culture around the world as a medium for bringing happiness. Flowers are given as gifts to lift the spirit, to say thank you, as a show of friendship and as a display of love. They are grown for their beauty and their scent and picked in their prime to be enjoyed for just about any occasion you can imagine or simply to brighten and freshen a room.
My flower images are a mixture of traditional photography and surreal or abstract art, developed using graphics software tools. Some of the photographs, such as Peace Flower, Succession and Fantastic Yellow are natural photographs with no alteration apart from cutting. Some images have undergone only a little alteration to create a more surreal or painted effect, such as Classic Yellow. Surreal images Fire Flower and Green Eye have undergone extensive alteration using graphics software to change colours and have been reworked to create an image that more closely resembles a painting.
